Perth Shoulder Rehabilitation was established in 2018 to manage the growing number of people with shoulder pain and disability in Perth and rural Western Australia.

Clinical Experience:

Dr Alison Thorpe has extensive experience in assessing and treating all shoulder problems. She also provides second opinion shoulder reviews for orthopaedic surgeons, sport and exercise physicians, general practitioners, physiotherapists and insurers. She has worked with a variety of elite, national and Olympic athletes, attending national and international competitions as a member of a multidisciplinary sports medicine team.

Academic Appointment:

Alison has an academic role at Curtin University where she is a postgraduate lecturer in the Master of Clinical Physiotherapy program. She was responsible for developing the current curriculum for the Sports Physiotherapy Course at Curtin University and recruited a team of highly qualified sports physiotherapists to assist in coordination and teaching roles for the course.

Research History:

Alison has recently completed her PhD thesis investigating current trends for shoulder surgery in Western Australia, exploring the current evidence for shoulder surgery decision-making, and the association of psychological factors with shoulder pain and outcome after shoulder surgery. A number of papers from her thesis have been published in peer review journals.
