Gym-based Rehabilitation

Rehabilitation following a shoulder injury often requires a period of exercise rehabilitation for return to full function. A targeted shoulder rehabilitation program developed for your individual needs also minimises the risk of persistent or recurrent shoulder pain.

Dr Alison Thorpe can assist with the development of an exercise rehabilitation program that is targeted to your needs. You may choose to undertake a targeted shoulder exercise program either at your home, in your own gym or as part of a supervised group exercise therapy session (private health fund rebates may be available).

Yoga-based Rehabilitation

The benefits of yoga and mindfulness are well recognised for general health and well-being. There is also evidence for their benefit when managing musculoskeletal pain by targeting factors such as anxiety or stress that can influence pain.

Dr Alison Thorpe has personal experience in the benefit of yoga for recovery and follows her own regular yoga practice. She holds Adult Yoga Teacher certification having completed 200 hours of teacher training and holds a Kids Yoga Level 1 Teacher Training certificate. She integrates yoga practice into shoulder rehabilitation programs where she feels it may be beneficial to recovery.
